Staff Product Designer
We're looking for a
Staff Product Designer
About the role...
We are seeking a Staff Product Designer with a passion for crafting exceptional consumer experiences and scalable design systems in New York City. The ideal person for this role is a systems thinker and hands-on maker who has shown prior ability in designing end-to-end product experiences, building and maintaining design systems, and shipping polished, interaction-rich work at a high bar of quality.
You should have extensive experience designing for consumer-facing products with a focus on delivering delightful, intuitive experiences that feel considered down to the smallest detail. Motion design should be a core strength — you think about how interfaces move, transition, and respond, not just how they look statically. You'll be a foundational member of our design team, working closely with our Head of Product engineers, and directly with our CEO to define how Cosmos looks and feels as we scale.
What you'll do:
Lead brand design across product launches, marketing campaigns, social media, merchandise, and community touch points
Design and evolve Cosmos's visual identity—from email templates and printed materials to packaging and event collateral
Collaborate closely with our product designer to ensure brand consistency across the user experience
Evolve and refine our brand system for stronger consistency as we scale
Work with external partners (photographers, videographers, agencies) and provide clear creative direction
Ship fast and iterate—no task is too big or small, and you'll have creative autonomy to push work forward
Create motion graphics, animations, and video assets that communicate product updates and tell our story
What we're looking for:
You have 7+ years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio of shipped consumer products that demonstrate craft, systems thinking, and motion design
You've built or significantly contributed to a design system at scale
Motion design is a core part of your toolkit — you prototype interactions, specify animations, and think about how things move, not just how they look
You think in systems and patterns, but know when to break them for the right experience
You have deep fluency in Figma and prototyping tools like Origami
You can work across platforms (iOS, web) and understand the nuances of designing for each
You're comfortable with ambiguity and can take broad product problems from exploration to shipped, polished solutions with minimal direction
You have strong opinions about design but hold them loosely — you're collaborative, direct, and open to feedback
You care deeply about the details: typography, spacing, color, timing, and feel
Nice to have:
Experience designing for visual discovery, creative tools, or culturally-defining consumer products
Familiarity with UIKit and frontend development concepts that help you collaborate more effectively with engineers
Background in or passion for art, design, fashion, architecture, or visual culture
Experience working directly with founders at early-stage, high-growth companies
Benefits & perks:
Premium health, dental, and vision
20 days PTO, plus company holidays, plus a 2-week winter break
Top-spec MacBook Pro, Apple Studio Display
Monthly stipend for software and tools
Monthly team events
Fully covered commute in NYC
Daily lunch & dinner stipend at the office
Optional Superpower membership
