Brand & Motion Designer

About the role...

We are looking for a Brand & Motion Designer with a passion for visual storytelling and building scalable design systems in New York City. The ideal person for this role is a designer who can move between brand strategy, motion design, and hands-on execution—someone who has shown prior ability in defining visual identities, creating motion graphics, and shipping high-quality work across digital and physical touch-points.

You should have experience creating brand and motion work for consumer-facing products, with a focus on delivering exceptional creative that elevates the product experience. You'll work directly with our CEO, product designer, and marketing team to shape our visual identity as we scale. This is an opportunity to build the brand design function from the ground up at a company where aesthetics and brand matter deeply.

What you'll do:

  • Lead brand and motion design across product launches, marketing campaigns, social media, merchandise, and community touchpoints

  • Create compelling video assets, animations, and motion graphics that communicate product updates and tell our story

  • Design and evolve Cosmos's visual identity—from email templates and printed materials to packaging and event collateral

  • Collaborate closely with our product designer to ensure brand consistency across the user experience

  • Evolve and refine our brand system for stronger consistency as we scale

  • Work with external partners (photographers, videographers, agencies) and provide clear creative direction

  • Ship fast and iterate—no task is too big or small, and you'll have creative autonomy to push work forward

  • Create motion graphics, animations, and video assets that communicate product updates and tell our story

What we're looking for:

  • 5-8+ years of experience in brand and motion design at startups, agencies, or creative studios

  • Experience thinking in systems while also executing pixel-perfect, hands-on work

  • Proficiency in motion design tools and design software

  • Strong fundamentals: typography, color, composition, timing, and storytelling

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to take projects from concept to execution with minimal direction

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally

  • Openness to close collaboration with founders, differing opinions, and feedback

  • Proficiency in motion design tools (Blender, After Effects, Premiere Pro) and design software (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite)

Nice to have:

  • Experience designing for creative tools, or culturally-defining consumer brands

  • Background in 3D, illustration, or web design

  • Eye for minimal, clear, and refined typography, layout, color, and overall taste

  • Deep interest in art, design, fashion, or visual culture
